Providence Student Internships - Providence Health System Alaska in Anchorage, Alaska

Overview

This posting is for multiple openings of non-clinical Summer Internships for college or graduate students. The goal of this Internship Program is to create a pipeline of diverse students to fill future Healthcare Administration and Leadership jobs with Providence in Alaska. As an intern, you will be involved in a variety of projects and gain experience working in a highly matrixed healthcare organization.

This is a full time, paid, 10-week opportunity occurring from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025. Housing and transportation assistance are not available. A laptop or other computer will be provided.

Available Internship Host Departments and Projects

All interns will be matched with a host department, where they will spend the internship working on a project under the guidance and mentorship of their host department supervisor. There are internship placements available with the host departments below. Intern projects will not include any patient care or other clinical work. Take a moment to review and decide which host department placement is most interesting to you. Projects may vary from what is listed and can often be flexible based on candidate interest and experience.

  • Environmental Stewardship: The Environmental Stewardship Intern will work on various projects focused on examining and influencing caregiver behavior regarding participation in environmental stewardship initiatives such as reducing electricity consumption and usage of reusable lunch containers.

  • Emergency Management : The Emergency Management Intern will work on various projects focused on education and caregiver outreach on emergency management topics such as: departmental action planning, caregiver preparedness outreach, and organizing, facilitating, and evaluating a vertical evacuation training.

  • Patient Experience : The Patient Experience Intern will work on the Restfulness and Founding project with Patient Family Advisory Council expansion and outreach effort. Other projects available include patient experience rounding process assessment and improvement.

Additional Learning Opportunities

In addition to their work with their host department, all interns will have the chance to learn from executive leaders, attend a site visit, and participate in job shadowing.

Interview Process

Selected candidates will participate in two 30–45-minute virtual interviews:

  • One general screening interview, and if selected to move forward,

  • One interview with a potential host department

Applications will be reviewed, and interviews scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Applications will close when all positions are filled, or by April 11, whichever comes first.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of at least one year of post secondary education

  • Coursework/Training: Enrolled in and working towards a post secondary degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of at least three years of post secondary education

  • Coursework/Training: Enrolled in a healthcare or business related field

  • 1 year Customer Service Experience
