We have an outstanding opportunity available for a Senior Principal Engineer within our Technology division, working closely with Data Science and Product Development teams.

About the Role

As a Senior Principal Engineer you will play a critical to the delivery of our Direct To Market (D2M) data products. Which support funding agencies and governments in addressing their research evaluation needs.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the technical end-to-end design and delivery of D2M data product deals

• Liaising with internal stakeholders, analysts, and operations to define requirements.

• Collaborating closely with the delivery manager to ensure delivery of D2M data products

• Collaborating closely with the data quality team to ensure that D2M data products meet quality standards

• Streamlining the D2M pipeline by recognising recurrent requirements, anticipating future needs, and optimising systems and processes to accelerate deliver

• Building lightweight prototypes to de-risk deliveries and provide rapid feedback to internal and external stakeholders

• Minimising manual involvement in delivery by automating processes mercilessly

Requirements

• Be a passionate engineer with commercial software engineering experience delivering server-side applications

• Experience in programming skills on the JVM with either Java 8+ or Scala and experience with big data technologies (such as Spark)

• Experience of building data pipeline, of working with relational and non-relational data, and a proficient level of data literacy

• Be a great communicator, excellent interpersonal and stakeholder skills.

• Be versatile and flexible in response to changing customer requirements

• Be comfortable learning new technologies, languages and tools on the job to ensure that our systems are not left behind in a rapidly evolving eco-system.
