Job Title: Production Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Production Operator to be responsible for manufacturing quality production according to work orders or build signals. The role includes general duties such as picking, packing, and operating a machine that produces a chemical powder. The operator will also be involved in machine setup and equipment operation, preparing machines to start production cycles, performing calibration, monitoring, and properly adjusting machine settings, and maintaining records and activity logs.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture quality production according to work orders or build signals

  • Perform general duties including picking, packing, kitting, and assembling

  • Set up machines and equipment for production

  • Prepare machines to start production cycles by performing calibration

  • Monitor and properly adjust machine settings

  • Maintain accurate records and activity logs

Essential Skills

  • Six months of production experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Six months of mechanical experience or equivalent

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull 20 lbs and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs

  • Proven mechanical ability or aptitude

  • High attention to detail

  • Good manual dexterity and coordination

  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills

  • Ability to resolve minor problems and recognize normal and unusual situations

  • Good oral and written communication skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Possess the ability to learn instrument or circuit board assembly, machine operations (including setup and changeover), and/or kitting

  • Some areas may require the ability to work with manual and/or power equipment

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes is helpful

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and workspace restrictions. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Employees are required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes eye protection, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and gloves. Contact lenses are not allowed in production areas. PPE such as eye, hearing, and gloves are provided. Work typically occurs individually. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, Iowa.
