Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Animal Production Medicine seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct in-depth analysis of high-throughput genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets using open source software tools. The postdoc will apply bioinformatics algorithms and statistical methods to interpret and visualize large-scale omics data, identify differentially expressed genes, predict protein-protein interactions, and assess functional enrichment. Additional responsibilities include conducting sequence analysis tasks including sequence alignment, variant calling, annotation, and functional prediction; utilizing bioinformatics tools and pipelines to extract relevant information from genomic and transcriptomic data; and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of genomics and bioinformatics.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analysis using open source software tools

• Hands-on experience with real-time PCR, primer design, and qPCR data analysis

• Experience developing Excel macros for data processing

• Experience that demonstrates strong problem-solving skills

• Prior experience working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented research environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through presentation of research findings

• Experience with statistical software packages such as SAS and R for data analysis and visualization

• Experience or training with sequence analysis methods and bioinformatics tools

• Experience with database management software for efficient data organization and retrieval
