Required Minimum Qualifications:• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, or Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience providing medical assistance to young adult patients.

Recent experience with direct patient care and equipment used in an ambulatory clinic setting.

Medical office experience.

Experience scheduling appointments using electronic practice management software, insurance data collection and entry into electronic health records.

Job Description:

Are you a Certified Medical Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in a dynamic clinic environment? We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our team and be cross-trained to work both in direct patient care and the front desk, with a primary focus on front desk duties.

Clerical Responsibilities:

  • Be the first impression of our clinic: answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and check in patients with a positive and supportive attitude.

  • Collect insurance information, run eligibility checks, and return clinical phone calls.

  • Manage internal and external medical records for accurate and complete data during patient appointments.

  • Assist in obtaining insurance prior authorizations and provide detailed information to other departments.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a provider to room patients and support the patient care plan.

  • Assist with physical exams, patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations.

  • Administer routine medications and perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood work, and electrocardiograms.

  • Identify vaccination needs for specific patient populations and support patient procedures.

  • Performs routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood work, does electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed.

  • Identifies vaccination needs for specific patient populations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical records documentation requirements.

• Knowledge of medical instruments and supplies.

• Knowledge of routine oral, rectal, and injectable medications.

• Knowledge and ability to perform CPR and emergency care procedures.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

• Ability to maintain a courteous and respectful approach toward patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.

• Ability to work safely and willingness to comply with special safety and health precautions including universal precautions.

• Ability to provide care with regard to patient condition and age.

• Ability to use supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient manner.

• Ability to maintain personal appearance in accordance with dress code.

• Ability to be punctual, dependable and flexible (so as to alter work schedule to meet unit/patient needs).

• Ability to read and understand instructions and guidelines and to read data indicators.

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
