Job Title: Carpentry Technician

Location: Ames, Iowa

Status: Hiring / Full-time / Weekly Pay

Schedule & Pay: Monday - Friday / 7:00 am - 4:00 pm / $20-$25 hr.

Overview: Join a leading general contractor specializing in commercial projects ranging from $1 million to $15 million, including significant work at Iowa State University (ISU). Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality results on remodels and new constructions. We are currently seeking skilled Carpentry Technicians to join our dynamic team for various projects within a 60-mile radius of Ames, IA.

Job Description: As a Carpentry Technician, you will perform a variety of carpentry tasks using wood and metal framing techniques. Your expertise will be critical in constructing, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures. You will work collaboratively in teams to complete projects efficiently while adhering to safety standards and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures in commercial settings.

• Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to specifications.

• Inspect and replace damaged frameworks or other structures/fixtures as needed.

• Perform framing and rough carpentry as well as trim and finish carpentry tasks.

• Follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

• Maintain a clean and organized job site.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid Drivers License and Reliable transportation

• Minimum 2 years of proven experience in professional carpentry work (commercial or residential)

• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

• Expertise in various carpentry techniques and use of hand/power tools.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Work Environment:

• Work Site: This is a fully on-site position in Ames, Iowa.

• Team Dynamics: Work in teams of 3-10 people on job sites.

• Working Hours: Normal hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM, though hours may vary by season and specific job requirements.

• Dress Code: Boots, jeans, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. For certain projects, you may need to travel to locations such as Des Moines or Huxley, IA. If you live near the Ames shop, you will have the option to ride in a company van with team members.
