Job Title: Controls Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician who will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery within a high-volume, continuous-run working environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC controls using a laptop, as this will constitute 50% of the job, with the remaining 50% focused on general maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLC controls using a laptop.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery faults.

  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance within the facility.

  • Lubricate and clean parts.

  • Read and understand mechanical prints, electrical wiring diagrams, AC/DC, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical components, electrical controls AC/DC, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic equipment.

  • Perform fabrication of equipment (welding arc and gas).

  • Install conduit.

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections and inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.

  • Repair or replace defective parts.

  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.

  • Start devices to test their performance.

  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.

Essential Skills

  • Electromechanical troubleshooting experience.

  • PLC controls experience (laptop edits, diagnosing/troubleshooting).

  • Industrial manufacturing experience.

  • Experience in fabrication and robotics.

  • Programming skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge or practical application experience in electrical or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Flexibility to work additional and flexible hours, including weekends.

  • Willingness and ability to work all shifts depending on company business needs.

  • Successful completion of a Skilled Trades (Non-Technical) online test before going full-time.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amarillo, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00/hr.
