Description

We are looking for a skilled machinist to build and maintain machine tools and industrial machines. The machinist will also be responsible for following technical drawings and using knowledge of mathematics to produce precision parts.

To be successful as a machinist you must have excellent coordination and knowledge of mechanics. A good machinist puts safety and accuracy at the forefront of all tasks.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.

  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.

  • Verifies plate size, heat number, and grade of material prior to cutting.

  • Takes precise measurements for cutting and shaping.

  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.

  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.

  • Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.

  • Maintains inventor of completed products.

  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.

  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.

  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation. Maintain Safety, OSHA Standards, and lock out tag out procedures.

  • Maintain equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Required Skills: To qualify for consideration an applicant should possess the following skills. Possession of these skills is a preferred for employment.

  • High School Diploma o GED preferred.

  • Prior experience with machine tools and industrial machines.

  • Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.

  • An apprenticeship involving mechanical operations would be advantageous.

  • Should possess the ability to read and comprehend, in English, simple instructions, short correspondence, drawings and manufacturer specifications.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
