ADP is hiring a US Tax and Compliance Manager.

As US Tax & Compliance Manager, you will support US Tax and Compliance Operations for internal ADP associates and businesses. This role is critical in supporting accurate processes that meet the expectations of ADP associates as well as the regulatory requirements of each jurisdiction where ADP operates.

The US Tax & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to all payroll tax regulations and requirements. This role manages the preparation, analysis, and filing of payroll tax returns, maintains compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and implements robust compliance policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll tax compliance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex tax issues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, including but not limited to FIT, SIT, FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and various local taxes.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all payroll tax requirements.

  • Conduct regular compliance audits to identify and rectify any discrepancies or non-compliance issues.

  • Stay updated with best practices in payroll tax compliance and ensure their integration into the company's processes.

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to resolve any compliance issues and to ensure alignment with statutory requirements.

Tax Reporting and Filing:

  • Collaborate with the Payroll Operations team to facilitate prior quarter adjustments and where necessary corrected W-2s. Establish job aids to assist payroll professionals in identifying errors timely to reduce the number of adjustments required.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate tax reporting including preparation and filing of all payroll tax returns and corresponding payments.

  • Ensure all payroll tax payments are made timely to avoid penalties and interest.

  • Conduct year-end audits to maximize the accuracy of W-2 reporting.

  • Final review of W-2s and 1099s before distribution to associates.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

  • Identify and assess payroll tax compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

  • Implement internal controls to prevent and detect errors or fraud in payroll tax reporting.

  • Review new legislation to determine whether any adjustments to our current process are required and work with teams to facilitate the implementation of those changes. These include rate changes in addition to new tax laws.

Training and Advisory:

  • Provide training and guidance to payroll staff on compliance-related matters.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on payroll tax compliance, providing advice and support to the Payroll Department and other relevant departments.

  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to keep the team updated on regulatory changes and best practices.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in payroll tax operations.

  • Implement best practices and streamline processes to enhance accuracy and compliance.

Audit and Reconciliation:

  • Conduct and oversee regular audits of payroll tax processes and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Support and provide guidance on the reconciliation of payroll tax employee’s setup and advise resolutions on any discrepancies.

  • Prepare and coordinate responses to payroll tax audits conducted by external auditors and regulatory agencies.

Experience. You have 8+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • You’ll have a BS degree in Accounting, Finance, OR equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll tax compliance.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

  • Experience managing payroll tax audits and resolving complex tax issues.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
