Your role at Clorox:

The Senior Transportation Manager will oversee the comprehensive management of transportation operations, including LTL (Less-Than-Truckload), inbound bulk, parcel, and inbound raw materials rail. This role involves strategizing for overall service, cost, capacity, and complexity to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills and extensive experience in transportation management.

In this role, you will:

Transportation Operations Management:

  • Lead and manage transportation operations for LTL, inbound bulk, parcel, and inbound raw materials rail.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align transportation strategies with business objectives.

  • Interact and influence cross functional partners internal and external to company.

  • Monitor and evaluate transportation performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to improve service quality and reduce costs.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and standards.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of transportation policies and procedures.

  • Manage operations with our 3rd party team of transportation professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.

  • Continuously assess industry trends and advancements to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Rail Management:

  • Develop and execute strategies for inbound raw materials rail transportation.

  • Optimize rail routes and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.

  • Coordinate with rail service providers to ensure reliable service and address any operational issues.

  • Monitor rail transportation performance and implement improvements as needed. Ensure current industry knowledge, especially marketplace shifts in costs and service as well as new developments in capability

  • Continuously reevaluate strategies for cost, service, and flexibility improvements to best meet business needs.

  • Develop metrics to identify and control cost along with measuring performance and service levels.

  • Provide freight financial analysis and work with 3rd party to validate rail moves, reduce demurrage, detention, and other assessorial fines.

LTL Responsibilities/IB Bulk:

  • Oversee LTL transportation operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods. Monitor LTL carrier performance and address service issues promptly. Implement cost-saving initiative and process improvements within LTL operations.

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize LTL network design and operations.

  • Monitor/review IB Bulk movement to ensure timely delivery to all receiving locations. Partner with internal stakeholders on providing solutions and guidance on all matters related to IB Bulk Transportation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support functional and company strategic projects along with other related duties as assigned.

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage capacity and complexity across all transportation activities.

  • Identify and implement technology solutions to enhance transportation operations and efficiency by automation or integrating advanced analytics and optimization tools.

What we look for:

  • 7+ years of experience in transportation management, with a focus on LTL, bulk, parcel, and rail transportation.

  • BS Degree in Supply Chain Management or logistics related program and/or 10+ years equivalent and related experience

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful transportation strategies.

  • Experience in analyzing transportation data and metrics to drive performance improvements.

  • Strong experience in managing carrier relationships.

  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage and work with 3rd party TMS partners.

  • Experience working in a business-facing role.

  • Proven leadership skills in a highly matrixed environment requiring strong collaboration and influencing skills.

  • Ability to build relationships, coachable.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and leverage a process-focused approach to business issue resolution.

  • Excellent and demonstrated analytical skills including data evaluation, conclusion presentation and solution implementation.

  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate ideas in a convincing, influential manner and to interact effectively at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and related software.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex transportation challenges.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $104,100 - $199,100

–Zone B: $95,500 - $183,300

–Zone C: $86,800 - $166,600

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
