Delta Dental Insurance Company Senior Software Engineer in Alpharetta, Georgia

DUTIES: Design and build a highly scalable set of APIs that support the companys rich consumer-facing applications. Use industry best practices and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams of product managers, architects, principal engineers, software engineers, test automation engineers, and DevOps in an Agile setup. Participate in architectural design, system analysis, and programming activities on application software; this may often require independent research and study. Design, develop, test, and maintain microservices to support companys consumer-facing applications. Write highest quality code with utmost attention to scalability, security and performance. Use TDD and participate in code-reviews with other software engineers. Collaborate with DevOps team to setup the build and delivery pipeline. Add instrumentation and monitoring to support production environments. Ship high quality products and features with an end-to-end mindset from conception to delivery and production support, owning specifications, quality, release deployments, and monitoring of production health. Participate in code-reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor software engineers. Collaborate closely with Engineering leadership, Product Managers, Designers, Test Automation, and other teams and business units to define, prioritize, sequence, and scope business and functional requirements and drive results. May need to support production releases, production incidents, etc. outside the business hours on a need basis. Must live within reasonable commuting distance from HQ and able to appear in office as required.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in Software Development or in the job offered or related role.

Skills: Experience and/or education must include:

  1. Designing and developing secure object-oriented web services;
  2. All phases of software development lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support;
  3. Java, Spring and Restful API development;
  4. SQL and NoSQL databases; and
  5. Build and CI Tools: Maven, Jenkins, Gradle, or any other CI/CD pipeline tools.

OTHER: Job Site: 1130 Sanctuary Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30009 - Must live within reasonable commuting distance from HQ and able to appear in office as required; 40 hours/week; $142,002 - $147,002/year. If offered employment, the applicant must have legal right to work in U.S. EOE.
