Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Network Engineer, Unified Communications Position

As a Senior Unified Communications Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of advanced communication integrate various modes of communication, such as voice, video, messaging, and collaboration tools, into a unified platform. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across the organization, enabling efficient workflows, and enhancing productivity. This role exists within a larger network engineering team, and as Senior Unified Communications Network Engineer your primary responsibility is the enterprise Unified Communications systems, but you may be asked to interact with the enterprise network or other network engineering tasks outside the traditional space of Unified Communications. The Senior Network Engineer manages small to medium scale projects from conception to completion including timeline, internal/external resources, and budget.

  • Create documentation for enterprise telecommunications systems and services in corporate KB repository.

  • Maintain telecommunications section within corporate KB repository.

  • Install, configure, and deploy unified communications systems, including hardware, software, and network components, and install, configure, and maintain enterprise voice recording capabilities, and maintaining control center communications equipment.

  • Integrate various communication channels and endpoints, such as VoIP systems, video conferencing solutions, instant messaging platforms, and collaboration tools.

  • Plan, design, and implement voice circuit replacements at field sites to decommission legacy T1 technology and port numbers to corporate centralized service.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshooting issues to ensure uninterrupted communication services.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, software updates, and patches to keep the system secure and up to date.

  • Implement security measures to protect communication systems and data from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, network operations, and business units, to gather requirements and define project scope.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.

  • Ideally, 5+ years of experience supporting Unified Communications systems in enterprise environments.

  • Ability to travel to remote business locations as required. Travel estimates are less than 15% of the time but could be more.

  • Proven experience as a Unified Communications Engineer or similar role.

  • Proven ability to adapt and scale to technology from multiple vendors and

  • In-depth knowledge of communication protocols, such as SIP, RTP, MGCP, H.323, SCCP and WebRTC.

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing VoIP systems, PBX, IP telephony, and video conferencing solutions. Cisco collaboration experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLAN, QoS, and VPN.

  • Experience with unified communications platforms and tools, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) with a collaboration focus, or equivalent, are a plus.
