Role Definition

Designs, develops, builds, and implements new projects, products, or technologies for advance electrical controls, Load shedding, and generator paralleling.

Responsibilities

• Researching new competitive products. Organizing, coordinating, and executing the hardware design and analysis of projects/prototypes.

• Overseeing the efforts of drafting and testing specialists.

• Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents. Participating in buy-build analysis for product components.

• Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.

• Provides leadership to drawing detailers as necessary and helps train new individuals in the group in electrical concepts.

• Participates on various teams as required.

• Provides technical guidance during product buildup and design.

• Ensures proper maintenance of production/manufacturing drawings.

• The incumbent, as part of activity in the design process, organizes and makes design review presentations.

• Gathers and summarizes data and writes technical reports.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of complex Electrical designs, PLC, Ethernet and Fibre Optic communications, Generator paralleling, switchgear design.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

• Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up-to-date on technical and procedural job components.

• Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies and services.

• Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve electrical technical issues in one's general area of electrical control technical competence.

• Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of Electrical Controls, AUTOCAD Electrical, E-Plan, Schematics, NEMA, UL508A, PLC

Level Working Knowledge:

• Generates specifications for parts or components with AutoCAD Electrical software.

• Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures.

• Uses AutoCAD Electrical to perform electrical drafting such as Schematics, Complex Circuits, and mechanical layouts.

• Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.

• Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.

• Creates reports from AutoCAD Electrical such as Wire Lists, BOM, connector, and error reports

• Review projects from fellow peers for quality and accuracy. Organize training topics from these reviews.

Project Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design, hardware and software systems.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.

• Collects and analyzes manufacturing requirements, and generates reports.

• Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new project/design model.

• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a project/product.

• Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product/component design.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques and understanding of the needs of facility

Level Working Knowledge:

• Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

• Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.

• Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.

Managing Multiple Priorities : Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Recognizes changing demands and priorities; validates changes with management.

• Obtains information about how current assignments contribute to organizational goals.

• Completes current work according to assigned priorities.

• Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work.

• Performs at least 2-5 concurrent activities without reducing productivity.
