Overview

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS HYBRID TO ONE OF OUR LOCAL OFFICES IN: ALLENTOWN, PA OR PROVIDENCE, RI

Senior Payroll Professional :

The primary responsibility of this position is to process the company's payrolls accurately and timely utilizing applicable systems/applications and ensuring sufficient controls are in place and performed. This individual works independently, or with minimal supervision, to perform a variety of payroll, human resources or systems related assignments requiring knowledge and experience in payroll and human resources theory and practices, policies, regulations and requirements and the systems that support them. Effectively communicates payroll situations, from simple to complex, to all levels of staff and management, including senior management. Is detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture, possesses strong technical skills with the ability to solve system challenges. In this role, system and process ability is critical as the role will engage in process reviews and make recommendations for improvement. This individual has a high degree of respect for the confidentially and sensitivity of payroll and HR data and is a team player with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence. This position may direct assigned personnel and will provide support to the payroll manager/supervisor for special projects.

Payroll Professional :

The primary responsibility of this position is to process or assist with processing the company's payrolls accurately and timely utilizing applicable systems/applications and ensuring sufficient controls are in place and performed. This individual works with some degree of supervision, with the goal to work more independently, to perform a variety of payroll, human resources or systems related assignments requiring some level of knowledge and experience in payroll and human resources theory and practices, policies, regulations and requirements and the systems that support them. This individual effectively communicates payroll situations to staff and management and is detail oriented with the ability to see the big picture, possesses technical skills with the ability to solve system challenges. This individual has a high degree of respect for the confidentially and sensitivity of payroll and HR data and is a team player with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

Senior Payroll Professional :

  1. Processes the biweekly/monthly payrolls for multiple companies incorporating pay rules from multiple labor unions, regulatory agencies and corporate policies and

  2. Ensures HCM employee data is updated and maintained accurately and timely, including exception items such as retroactive adjustments, garnishments, deductions,

  3. Ensures adequate controls are in place and effectively performed to ensure the accurate and timely execution of the company's payroll and related processes and

  4. Leverages technology to process payroll in both Oracle HCM and ADP, in depth ability to setup, maintain, manage, and report from both

  5. Researches and analyzes payroll and HR situations, from simple to complex, and ensure appropriate solutions are implemented accurately and timely with little to no

  6. Identifies and/or participates in the identification of enhancements and process improvements in payroll and human resource products, processes and services through process improvements and control

  7. Provides operation departments with expertise on payroll and human resources processes and compliance matters and provide guidance and directions to PPL

  8. Designs, developments, tests and implements new systems, processes, and solutions to support payroll and human resources processes and Includes User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in Oracle, ADP and other systems as required

  9. Coordinates, leads, or assists with the setup of new companies resulting from spin-offs, acquisitions and/or

  10. Leads/participates in payroll projects, including creating and monitoring project plans, project deliverables and communications with little or no

  11. Provides payroll tax guidance, research and coordination including biweekly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax

  12. Provides training to employees, including setup and management of training plans,

  13. Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with customers such as business lines, functional teams and other groups or individuals within

  14. Meets with internal and external auditors to explain the operation of payroll

  15. Takes on additional responsibilities and projects willingly, as

  16. Physical presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Qualifications

Senior Payroll Professional :

Basic Qualifications -

  1. 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

  2. CPP Certification or 10 years of experience in Payroll

  3. Experience with and working knowledge of payroll and human resources regulatory reporting rules and requirements

  4. Strong controls focus and thorough understanding of controls concepts and techniques

  5. Strong and in-depth knowledge of payroll and human resources practices, policies, requirements, regulations, processes and techniques

  6. Experience with Oracle and other third-party payroll software (ADP, Ceridian, etc.…)

Preferred Qualifications -

  1. Knowledge of corporate structure, policies and procedures, business line operations, and general business practices

  2. Excellent decision-making skills

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement techniques and methodologies

  4. Good PC skills including Office, Email, report writing with multiple tools

  5. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

  6. Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  7. Experience with payroll set up and design during mergers and acquisitions is a plus

  2. Experience with and working knowledge of payroll and human resources regulatory reporting rules and requirements. Strong controls focus and thorough understanding of controls concepts and techniques.

  3. Knowledge of payroll and human resources practices, policies, requirements, regulations, processes, and techniques.

  4. Experience with payroll software packages (ex. ADP).

Preferred Qualifications -

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

  2. Four years of relevant experience.

  3. CPP, FPC or other relevant certification is beneficial.

  4. Knowledge of corporate structure, policies and procedures, business line operations, and general business practices. Excellent decision-making skills.

  5. Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement techniques and methodologies.

  6. Good PC skills including Office, Email, report writing with multiple tools.

  7. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.

  8. Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
