Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Alexandria, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Alexandria, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and administering the payroll cycle from start to finish. You will have the opportunity to work within a diverse and dynamic team, handling a multitude of responsibilities that are vital to the smooth operation of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the bi-weekly payroll process including preparation, review, approval, and submission

• Ensure the accuracy of timekeeping and tax records, and make necessary changes to employee payroll records such as tax withholdings, benefits, leave accruals, and 401(k) contributions

• Compile, record, and audit all work hour types including shift differentials, leave, paid time off, etc.

• Maintain accurate retirement account data and records, including the bi-weekly employer and employee contribution upload, contribution changes and updates, and tracking and processing new hire enrollment and eligibility

• Manage and track the processing of employer related payments such as quarterly and annual bonuses, mid-year salary adjustments, referrals, vacation payouts, etc.

• Process, record, and respond to court ordered garnishments and support notices

• Record and process uniform and general reimbursements, and other miscellaneous deductions as required

• Support the Human Resources department in the reconciliation of health benefit deductions post open enrollment and as needed

• Conduct audits of leave hours such as floating holiday, paid leave hours awarded annually, and other accrued paid leave

• Utilize Accounting Software Systems and other relevant software to perform payroll duties efficiently. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience in Full Cycle Payroll

• Knowledge of Multi-state Payroll and Local Payroll Tax

• Prior experience in Payroll handling for 101 - 500 employees

• Familiarity with Payroll - Union

• Proficiency in Paycom software

• Ability to handle multistate payroll

• Able to manage payroll for a large workforce

• Strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation.
