City Of Alexandria Meter Technician, Gas in Alexandria, Louisiana

[Annual Salary Range: $31,767.06 - $38,120.47 Grade: 18 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position) **[Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.

[Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Gas department and future vacancies as they occur to perform technical tasks to maintain and repair meters and regulators for the City. Provides customer service in the field by responds to service calls, customer inquiries, and complaints; investigates operating condition of meters; calibrates meters; diagnoses and resolves problems; talks with customers at sites or leaves notices at door as appropriate to discuss problems, explain the tests performed, and provide information about potential repair options. Acts as the coordinator of the related materials, parts, supplies and equipment inventory. Positions in the Gas Department are subject to 24-hour call.

  • High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in basic mechanical maintenance and repair of meters and related equipment with some experience in purchasing and inventory management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana drivers license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
  • Must possess and maintain any state or federal certifications required in the field of assignment.

[[NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: [[ Gas Department must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire. [[Work Schedule: [[M-F, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM w/ Saturday and Sunday off. Every 6^th^ week (Duty Week), M-F, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday (7 AM to 3 PM) with the following Thursday and Friday off
