Arconic Maintenance Superintendent in Alcoa, Tennessee

Position Description:

Arconic is currently in search of a Maintenance Superintendent to join our global Rolled Products (GRP), business unit in Alcoa, TN. Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet, and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years, and continues to thrive and grow

The incumbent is responsible for leading the Maintenance efforts within a department at Tennessee Operations. This role has accountability for EHS, production, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and financial goals.


The incumbent is responsible to assess, develop, deploy and monitor for the following:

  • EHS – Ensure execution of department EHS plan

  • Employee Engagement – Responsible for growth and development, reward and recognition, communication, leadership and vision, supervisory effectiveness

  • Improvement – Implementation of ABS tools to deliver the department and plant goals

  • Financial – Annual budget, cost improvement activities, monthly forecast, insure department goals are met, implementation of DI

  • Annual Planning - Develop A3 business plans including EHS, financial, continuous improvement, employee engagement, quality, throughput, and resources

  • Ensure that Arconic’s policies and procedures are applied consistently

  • Resolve issues relating to maintenance, quality, EHS, and human relations that occur in the Department

  • Assist with special project/assignments as required

  • Supervising maintenance leadership, and development of the maintenance staff

  • Delivering a strategic maintenance plan that ensures that maintenance resource availability is maximized, and overall maintenance efficiencies, labor and material costs are improving

  • Development of direct reports managerial and leadership skills through mentoring and coaching practices, along with formal performance management processes

  • Participate in formulation and administration of company policies and the development of long term goals and objectives

  • Review progress of maintenance, analyzing performance versus financial budget as well as progress versus stated goals and objectives

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, including supervisory experience

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team

  • Conceptual, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are necessary

  • Detail oriented, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work cooperatively with the staff at varying levels of the organization

  • Strong practitioner of EH&S policies, procedures & regulations, lean manufacturing

  • Proven problem-solving skills

  • Basic mechanical & electrical knowledge

  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
