    JOB SUMMARY

    The technicians in Tier 2 will have mastered the skills trained in the Tier 3 job specifications. In addition, a Tier 2 technician will have achieved various levels of on-line training and approved off site training and specified below. A technician will not be considered for Tier 2 advancement until they have a minimal of two years on the job training.

    ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO THOSE STATED IN THE TIER 3 DESCRIPTION

  • Completed online portion training in Mack & Volvo in our Dual branded locations and single brand in those single branded locations. This requirement may also be met using Cummins Training, Medium Duty Training, & or Allison training.

  • Actively working on approved off-site training prerequisites and or attending off-site training towards a certification in the agreed upon training path.

  • Working knowledge and can demonstrate systems knowledge of: (Air System, Fuel Systems, After treatment systems etc.)

    EXAMPLES OF SKILLS NEEDED TO MASTER THIS LEVEL

  • Performs timely repairs, minimum 85% efficiency and 80% Proficiency.

  • Performs quality repairs should have minimal rework based on value, frequency, and managerial discretion.

  • Able to perform moderately difficult diagnostics but may struggle with more difficult situations.

  • Can diagnose and repair basic electronic, lighting, and electrical systems.

  • Requires minimal supervision.

  • A forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

  • Has a can-do attitude and is considered a "Go to" in at least two areas of repair?

  • Displays a firm understanding of the big picture and the mission at hand.

    PROGRESSION REQUIREMENT

  • Complete all Tier 3 Job Role Requirements.

  • Must complete a Minimum of 2 items listed below.

  • Complete in 3 areas of the ASE “Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certifications”

  • Master Certified in at least 1 Mack or Volvo Pro-Path Segments.

  • D.O.T. Inspection Certified.

  • Certified in at Least one Cummins engine platforms.

  • Certified in a Medium Duty (Hino, Mitsubishi, or Isuzu)

  • Allison Transmission Certified (one)

  • Have valid Commercial Driver’s License.

    Physical Demands:

  • Involves essential ability to maneuver around, in, on and under trucks in order to properly inspect and diagnose all types of problems and repairs.

  • Must be able to pass a physical and drug and alcohol screens during pre-employment screening, randomly and/or as requested throughout employment.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds to the waist and 25 pounds to the shoulder.

    The working environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Due to the urgency of some repairs, this position contains some level of stress and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks smoothly. Requires regular, predictable attendance.
