The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for an Instructional Systems Designer III to support our government customer at DOE National Training Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with team members to design and maintain engaging and effective instructional materials utilizing varying instructional strategies and techniques. Provide feedback and best practices for other team members doing the same.

  • Act as project manager for the course planning and development process as well as writing project plans. Keep all team members abreast of project milestones and team progress.

  • Ensure milestones are met and deliverables are submitted as scheduled. Assist in managing resources and deconflict when necessary, in order to ensure project completion.

  • Provide recommendations and guidance for sequencing of instruction and the use of needs assessments as well as job analyses.

  • Design and maintain course materials for classroom, scenario-based, and virtual environments in accordance with DOE and other applicable instructional design principles and best practices.

  • Assess performance outcomes applicable to current and desired levels of course performance in a systematic manner and offer resolutions with which to improve performance and re-evaluate results.

  • Continually explore new technologies for potential applications to instructional problems and associated process improvement efforts.

  • Follow curriculum management procedures and provide feedback in support of those procedures for streamlined efficiency.

  • Perform instructional design duties beyond those identified here and provide general technical guidance and assistance to Instructional Systems Designers I and II.

  • Apply and follow basic safety and security concepts and policies.

  • Successfully complete other duties as assigned by department manager.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Graduate degree from an accredited college or university in instructional design, human performance technology, education, or related training-specific area or a minimum of five (5) years direct work-related experience.

  • Experience in planning and executing several long-term projects simultaneously as well as experience in providing guidance to others doing the same.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have analysis skills (JA, JTA, audience analysis, needs analysis, data analysis & evaluation, and ability to write survey report, etc.).

  • Must have evaluation skills (focus group, test item analysis, task-to-training matrix, tracking and trending of student performance across course iterations, etc.).

  • Must execute training product design and maintenance to meet organizational objectives and mission.

  • Must determine and provide assistance in determining appropriate training methodologies and ascertaining what is best for specific projects.

  • Must communicate clearly both in writing and verbally in multicultural and multigenerational teams.

  • Must partner with diverse teams to ensure effective product development and maintenance.

  • Provide technical guidance to other instructional designers.

  • Must use and assist in the development of systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Must show commitment to organizational values and mission.
