National Nuclear Security Administration Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Summary This position is part of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Technical Services (OST). A successful candidate in this position will serve as Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN), providing technical assistance, support, and guidance for several special projects and major IT programs for OST. Responsibilities As an Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN), you will: Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the mission application technologies, data flows, and infrastructure components. Performance of designing, building, and maintaining highly virtualized server and storage architecture using multiple platforms. Provides expert advice and assists in managing information system life-cycle from design, to support, to replacement or decommission Provides technical expertise in establishing objectives for multiple, complex information technology projects, including planning and scheduling development, resource estimation, definition of milestones and deliverables. Explains complex technical issues to non-technical, senior-level decision-makers and presents reports/briefings to many stakeholders, including senior leadership. Requirements Conditions of Employment Subject to Random Drug Testing Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Favorable suitability determination required. Financial Disclosure is required. Qualifications To qualify, you must possess the EXPERIENCE as described below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS NQ-2 A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-01 or GS-07. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience utilizing mission application technologies, data flows an infrastructure components. Examples of Specialized Experience: Experience maintaining highly virtualized server architecture using multiple platforms, e.g., VMware, NUTANIX, Cisco HyperFlex. Experience in troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues that involve network and server systems. Experience creating and cloning processes across multiple environments. Experience with managing server infrastructure hosted in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.). NQ-3 A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02 or GS-12. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience serving as a technical expert on the mission application technologies, data flows, and infrastructure components. Examples of Specialized Experience: Experience designing, building, and maintaining highly virtualized server and storage architecture using multiple platforms, e.g., VMware, NUTANIX, Cisco HyperFlex. Experience with managing server infrastructure hosted in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.). Experience with networking fundamentals and storage administration. Experience with distributed computing environments. Experience with troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues that involve network and server systems. Creating and cloning processes across multiple environments. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience .CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. Education There is no education requirement for this position and education cannot be substituted for experience at the NQ-3 level.
