What Your Job Will Be Like:

Organization 2257 is looking for an engineering data analyst to provide in-depth statistical analyses of production and surveillance test data for nuclear weapon system and component engineers, as well as surveillance customers. The engineering data analyst also supports surveillance metrics, automation of analysis algorithms, and monitoring of production data for modernization programs. To be successful and deliver the requisite products, the data analyst must team with a variety of organizations and other engineers within a coordinated and integrated environment. Hence, the data analyst should be comfortable working in a team environment as well as possess the ability to operate independently when necessary and think critically and proactively of ways to improve organizational processes and products.

The nature of the work requires a high level of technical competency, knowledge of statistical techniques and statistical software, programming skills, strong communication (both verbal and written) skills, strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer focus. Programming skills are necessary to automate some of the tasks performed by the analyst: maintain or develop statistical algorithms, extract data from databases and manipulate the data, generate graphs and reports of the data. Knowledge of Minitab, JMP, or R and Microsoft Visual Basic or Python are important.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Some travel may be required for this position.

Salary Range:

$104,100 - $207,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline, plus (1) one year of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in stated field, plus (5) five years of experience; OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience in data mining, retrieval, and analysis using Excel and/or similar tools.

  • Experience in the application of statistical methodologies.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a required US DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Familiarity with nuclear weapon/component design, production, testing methodology, and/or performance assessment.

  • Experience with statistical software such as Minitab, JMP or R.

  • Experience in project management.

  • Ability to think both critically and creatively (think out-of-the-box).

  • Experience in championing and implementing process and/or product improvements.

  • Demonstrated teaming skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently.

  • Demonstrated strong communication (both verbal and written) skills.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.

  • Active DOE Q security clearance or DoD equivalent clearance.

  • Experience programming with Microsoft Visual Basic or Python.

Organization 2250 manages the Integrated Stockpile Evaluation (ISE) as a program driven to understand all aspects of stockpile systems to ensure that the nuclear weapon stockpile is known, with increasing certainty to be safe, secure, reliable, and effective both now and into the future. ISE integrates a variety of stockpile evaluation programs and focuses on contributing to the transformation of US nuclear weapons stockpile and complex.
