BAE Systems is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer to be part of a customer-facing team in an R&D environment supporting frequent, smaller projects. A successful candidate will have exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines (particularly embedded software and microelectronics) and strong customer interfacing skills to develop requirements and ensure products developed meet customer needs.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers missions. What You ll Do:

  • Provide systems engineering support to technical teams developing frequent microelectronic projects in an R&D environment.

  • Coordinate with the customer and project leads to support the development, allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements throughout a project s life cycle.

  • Interface with multiple engineering disciplines and project leads to manage integration of project subsystems.

  • Aid project leads in ensuring project designs are acceptable from a higher-level systems viewpoint.

  • Verify all project deliverables/documentation are logical, complete, and accurate.

  • Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to develop system models for more complex projects.

  • Maintain baseline repositories of customer approved designs.

  • Work with systems test engineers to develop and document thorough test plans to validate system requirements.

  • Support major project gate reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR/MRR) as required.

  • Develop project risk assessments and mitigation plans.

  • Aid project managers in tracking progress and developing overall schedules.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.

  • Eachhigher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • A current active TS/SCI security clearance is required.

  • Experience in either microelectronics design or embedded software development.

  • Experience with general systems engineering processes.

  • General project management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Experience and confidence with presenting to and working directly with customers.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Software development experience, particularly:

  • Embedded software

  • ARM software development

  • GNU Radio/signal processing

  • Exposure to Agile software development processes.

  • Experience with software development timelines/project management.

  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or a similar system modeler.

  • Experience with DOORS or a similar requirements management tool.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project.

  • Project Management Professional certification.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $111000 - $137500

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
