Responsibilities

The Trauma/Safety Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate the management of trauma care across the care continuum.

  • Develop and maintain quality improvement programs for trauma services.

  • Direct all trauma registry activities.

  • Participate in departmental and intradepartmental trauma surgery education programs.

  • Coordinate Emergency Preparedness for Trauma Services.

  • Participate in injury prevention activities.

Qualifications

Experience :

Minimum of 3 years Registered Nurse experience in Emergency Department, Trauma or Critical Care required.

Trauma experience required.

Education :

Graduate of a nursing program required.

BSN preferred.

All associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.

All associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.

Training :

TOPIC (Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course) preferred at time of hire but required within one year of hire.

Special Skills:

Must be able to show evidence of completing a minimum of 16 hours of trauma related continuing education per year.

Licensure & Certification :

Current MN RN license required.

BLS required

TNCC and/or CALS preferred at time of start but must obtain by the end of orientation. TNCC preferred.

Completion of TOPIC (Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course) within one year of hire.

Schedule Details

8 Hour Shifts, Monday-Friday. This position will support the Mayo Clinic Health System SEMN Region, including the sites of Albert Lea, Austin, Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing. The home base for this position can be any of the SEMN sites listed above. Some travel will be required.

Weekend Schedule
