Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States• Must be 18 years of age or older• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.

Duties Description The Security Operations Center (SOC) team performs intake and initial triage of cyber security events identified and reported by various sources, escalates to CIRT for further investigation and analysis as needed, and tracks event/incident progress through to closure. Additionally, this team performs additional threat detection functions including research, log analysis, and alerting based on indicators of compromise. Duties may include: 1. Analyze emails for malicious content and respond to customers with appropriate actions.2. Manage/respond to ITSM tickets to track/resolve incidents.3. Assist with incident response activities including log and packet analysis.4. Meeting with other areas of ITS or client agencies to discuss security concerns and helping educate business units about the key concepts of information security. Preferred 1+ years' experience in technical writing or coursework in writing. Please note, that previous experience in cyber security is not a requirement for these positions.
