Albany Medical Center Manager, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology in Albany, New York

The Manager of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology is responsible for the daily operations of the Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology departments including the direct supervision of the technical and clerical staff. Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Radiology and Radiation Oncology and in conjunction with the Department Chairs, the Manager of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology will demonstrate efficiency and organization in their practice including the planning of departmental projects, creation of policies and procedures, budgeting and purchasing, treatment, and simulation workflow as it relates to Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology. The Manager of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology must demonstrate strong leadership skills and promote a positive environment. The Manager of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology will actively work with the management staff in Radiology and Radiation Oncology to assure optimal use of resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology policies, goals, and objectives to ensure delivery of quality care, efficient operations, and compliance in regulations of all regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee staff scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, physician relationships, program development and equipment management in Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology.

  • Collaborates with Physicians, Medical Physicists, Nuclear Pharmacists and technologists in all aspects of radiation safety.

  • Act as the Systems Database Administrator for the electronic medical record system(s).

  • Proficient in advanced technical and computer skills in Excel Database, MS Office Suite, Cloud Computing and Shared drive.

  • Oversee appropriate charge captures and treatment/procedure documentation.

  • Create appropriate business plans in conjunction with the Director of Radiology and Radiation Oncology.

  • Oversee and manage vendor and support contracts for all Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy equipment.

  • Complete Annual Performance Evaluations for all technical and clerical staff in a timely manner.

  • Facilitates appropriate departmental meetings.

  • Complete all accreditations including but not limited to American College of Radiation Oncology, American College of Radiology (Nuclear Medicine) and accredited registrar and classification services.

  • Ensures Kronos policies are implemented and followed; approves employee timecards in Kronos in a timely manner.

  • Participates in Radiology Manager On-Call responsibilities.

  • Participates in the Radioisotope and Radiation Safety Committee, Radiology Quality Improvement Committee, Radiation Oncology Quality Improvement Committee, and other committees as invited

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Radiology and Radiation Oncology.

Qualifications

  • Vocational School Diploma of an accredited Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Program - required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare related field - preferred

  • 7-9 years as a Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist and/or Nuclear Medicine Technologist - required

  • 4-6 years in administrative functions in a Radiation Oncology and/or Imaging department - required

  • Advanced skills and knowledge in Radiation Therapy and/or Nuclear Medicine

  • Uses appropriate communication with patients, their family members, physicians, and coworkers

  • Ability to develop and prepare budgets, variance reports, documents, payroll records, statistical surveys and other required data

  • Ability to be accurate in such matters as data entry, exam documentation, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others

  • Ability to accept direction, carry out orders, to work cooperatively with others and to avoid the creation of unnecessary conflict

  • Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure the continuity of appropriate patient care

  • ASRT - Radiation Therapist NYS DOH with injection Upon Hire - required

  • NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech NYS DOH Upon Hire - required
