The Department of Health Policy, Management, and Behavior at the University at Albany School of Public Health has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Program Coordinator. The coordinator will primarily work on research studies focused on HIV/STI prevention and treatment in marginalized communities, with an emphasis on cisgender Black women in New York. The anticipated start date for this position is November 1, 2024.
The applicant should have strong skills in coordinating research studies (preferably qualitative and randomized controlled trials), managing administrative aspects of study procedures, and community engagement. The applicant should have a strong scientific writing background and must be able to spearhead the programmatic components of research projects, including annual progress report writing to grant funding agencies, and managing the startup and logistics of a new community-engaged research project.
The position is primarily in-person, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; and may require occasional travel in New York.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinates routine activities of research studies including recruiting participants, data collection and maintenance, planning study timelines, scheduling appointments and study visits, conducting study visits, maintaining study logs/records and monitoring the progress of the projects to ensure study goals are met in a timely manner.
Identifies, reports, and assist with developing solutions to address protocol deviations and unanticipated occurrences.
Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day activities of the study team.
Create and manage the study database using REDCap (including generating reports).
Manage qualitative data using NVivo (including generating reports).
Prepare IRB submissions, regulatory and compliance reports; and ensure adherence to study protocols and study quality and maintain confidentiality of participants' data; and assist with conducting literature review and preparing manuscripts.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public health or related fields
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in HIV prevention/treatment
At least 1 year experience managing research studies (e.g., randomized controlled trials) including startup and logistics, recruiting, conducting study visits, data management and quality control
Experience managing administrative aspects of research studies
Experience conducting literature reviews and preparing scientific reports/manuscripts
Experience working with marginalized communities
Familiarity in engaging communities/stakeholders including organizing and leading community/stakeholders' meetings
Familiarity working directly with cisgender Black women
Familiarity with creating and preparing reports for regulatory and funding agencies
Familiarity with NVivo qualitative software
Familiarity with statistical software such as SAS & SPSS
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft products
Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written communication
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in public health or related field
Advanced skills in REDCap. Demonstrate ability to create and manage projects in REDCap.
Advanced skills in NVivo
At least 1 year experience in developing and manualizing interventions
Three years or more research experience (including coordinating randomized controlled trials and qualitative studies)
Two years or more experience preparing IRB and regulatory documents for research studies
Two years or more experience in HIV prevention and community engagement
Additional Information:
Salary: $50,000-56,000
