Description
We are seeking motivated individuals who are driven by community work and advocacy to join our team!
ACAP is a community-based organization that has been supporting the empowerment and economic upward mobility of vulnerable residents of Albany County for over 55 years. The Community & Career Specialist provides job readiness and vocational services as well as connection to community aid to ACAP customers.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct employment assessments and generate employment goal plans with customers and provide post-employment and career counseling to customers who have found employment;
Facilitate workshops and lead discussions in ACAP’s Career Center regarding topics such as job readiness, job retention skills and behaviors, and financial literacy and asset development;
Conduct self-sufficiency assessments and assist customers in creating an action plan to achieve goals;
Work with community partners to connect families with local resources and events;
Assist with customer outreach and enrollment in ACAP programs and services; and
Collect data and maintain records.
Starting at $20.45 per hour; Monday-Friday; 37.5 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D and at least two (2) years of experience in human services or community-based organization is required. Undergraduate degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field, is preferred. Family Development Credential is a plus. Basic computer skills including database entry, word processing, and spreadsheet skills are required. Experience with employment support, case management, and a familiarity with local service providers and employers desired. Bi-or Multi-Lingual is a plus.
