Description

We are offering a part-time, contract to hire employment opportunity for a Bookkeeper in ALBANY, New York. In this role, you will be assisting the finance director with various tasks, including audit assistance, bank-related tasks, and bill payments. This role is situated in a dynamic workplace within the industry of music, culture, and fine arts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting annual external audits to ensure financial transparency and compliance.

• Handle basic bookkeeping tasks, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial records.

• Assist with cashing checks and making bank deposits as required.

• Manage bill payments to maintain good relationships with suppliers and service providers.

• Keep track of receipts and maintain organized records of transactions.

• Provide general support to the finance director, contributing to the smooth operation of the financial department.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in basic bookkeeping tasks such as maintaining records of financial transactions, verifying and recording transactions, and reconciling bank statements

• Proven ability to prepare financial reports and statements for annual external audits

• Proficiency in using bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and databases

• Strong understanding of the principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing financial computations and calculations

• Strong organizational skills to ensure efficient management of financial records and data

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information

• Good communication skills to effectively liaise with other departments and external agencies

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
