The Department of Accounting & Law in the Massry School of Business, University at Albany, State University of New York, located in Albany, New York (https://www.albany.edu/business) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Accounting. The position will commence Fall 2025.

The Massry School of Business is AACSB accredited in both business and accounting and offers a supportive environment for research with teaching loads and research support competitive with other major research universities. Our accounting faculty are research-active with peer-reviewed publications in high-quality accounting journals. The School of Business offers accounting degrees at the bachelors and masters levels and is an active participant in the University's PhD program in Information Science.

The University at Albany is a Carnegie 1 research university with over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and is one of four research centers in the SUNY system. The University is located in the state capital, and the surrounding capital district area is a center for culture, entertainment, and outdoor recreation. Albany is three hours from New York City, Boston, and Montreal. Close by are the Berkshires, the Catskills, historic Saratoga Springs, and the

Adirondack Mountains; areas famed for recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities.

ABD candidates with imminent defense dates may be considered, but must have their PhD in accounting or closely-related field by August 31, 2025

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/31/2025. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.

  • Candidates should demonstrate the potential for scholarly research and publishing in refereed accounting journals.

  • Applicants for Assistant Professor must address their plan and ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have experience teaching classes in accounting data analytics, forensic accounting, and/or auditing.

  • Preferred candidates will have a record of research in the field of accounting, auditing, or closely-related fields.

  • Preferred candidates will have earned a Ph.D. at an institution with AACSB Supplemental Accounting Accreditation.
