Kennard Associates Traveling Fiber Splicer Technician in Akron, Ohio

Fiber Splicing Technician - 100% travel throughout Ohio.

Details:

  • Type - Full time W2 Fiber Splicer - 100% travel all over Ohio.

  • Must provide your own truck or van - able to carry required equipment.

  • If you are able to provide your own tools, you are paid more.

    Compensation:

  • $40 /hr base rate

  • Additional $10 - $15 /hr on top of the base rate for your truck and tools.

  • $700 weekly board and lodging per diem.

    Job Summary:

  • Seeking a fully skilled Fiber Splicer (there is no splicing training)

  • Updates work and maintenance logs through company databases.

  • Plans jobs and determines materials and resources needed to complete tasks.

  • Reviews and interprets work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings and follows standard practices in the performance of job duties.

  • Works varying shifts and hours including possible night shifts, mandatory overtime, and weekends.

    General Duties:

    Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • This technician should be proficient in the proper and safe operation of the equipment.

  • Requires a valid state drivers’ license with current satisfactory driving record.

  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible overtime and night shifts if fiber work is needed during safe time.

  • Travel between Central Office locations

  • Ability to work aloft (e.g. extension ladder).

  • Ability to work in Manholes.

  • Ability to identify and repair fiber optic splices.

    Qualifications:

  • Must be able to splice any fiber/ ISP or OSP and use OTDR and power meter for trouble shooting of Telco fiber.

  • Experience with ROADM or IOF Fiber splicing preferred.

  • Experience diagnosing Fiber trouble, and performing routine testing, including measuring, and repairing fiber using Fusion Splicer and OTDR.

  • Experience working with live fiber.

  • Experience reading Fiber MDF in CO.

  • Experience working independently with little supervision
