Cleveland Clinic Simulation Operations Specialist in Akron, Ohio

As a Simulation Operations Specialist, you will support the use of simulation in multidisciplinary healthcare settings and prepare and maintain lab equipment and materials related to it. You will be responsible for helping plan simulations and human patient simulators, setting up and tearing down, and running the simulators.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Department Manager to ensure adequate staffing coverage and assignments of the SOS team.

  • Oversees tasks assigned to Simulation Technicians and Simulation Operations Specialists.

  • Independently makes decisions when needed to modify simulation to meet the needs of the learners.

  • Attends planning meetings and relays needed information to the SOS team as needed.

  • Manages Course Instance Manager as needed.

  • Oversees orientation of new SOS to the department.

  • Manages daily operations and attempts to resolve issues.

  • Programs software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.

  • Operates patient simulators for the duration of simulations.

  • Assists in training faculty in the use of simulation equipment and collaborates in maintenance and repair by troubleshooting immediate issues with simulation equipment and all other equipment used in relation to the simulations.

  • Supports sets up and tears down rooms in preparation for various simulations.

  • Works closely with manager and education specialist in coordinating simulations.

  • Works closely with manager in maintaining inventory of all equipment and supplies related to simulation.

  • Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials.

  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals.

  • May operate and maintain audio/visual equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's degree

Certifications:

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Two (2) years healthcare simulation experience.

  • Four (4) years healthcare simulation experience may offset degree requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to move up to 85 pounds with assistance

  • Ability to work on overhead equipment

  • Ability to work in confined, darkened areas.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.88

Maximum hourly: $28.80

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
