Position Summary

The Senior Product Design Engineer position focuses on developing and de-risking tread pattern designs, with an emphasis on stretching tire performance to meet project targets. This role needs to be able to understand and mitigate tradeoffs in tire performance, work closely with cross functional team members to understand project requirements, and execute tread pattern optimization on Consumer and Commercial tire categories. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, have a strong background in CREO, ability to multitask, leverage project management, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to deliver a clear technical walk to justify design decisions and predictions through technical communication, of tire performance.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute tread pattern optimization for various types of projects including but not limited to, Consumer replacement (Passenger and Light Truck), Commercial replacement, and Consumer and Commercial OE.

  • Follow a defined gate process for development, create and present highly technical information to a diverse audience to inform and gain alignment.

  • Understand and leverage proprietary tools and tire first principles to predict and communicate target achievement.

  • Lead large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from manager.

  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.

  • Identify continuous improvement/automation opportunities.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, teammates, and partners.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Preferred skills: Strong CREO experience (other CAD packages considered), project/time management abilities, multitasking and technical communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years’ experience in Product Development and project management, or Master’s Degree; 2+ years’ experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
