About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

The Supply Chain Operational Buyer collaborates with the operational buying manager, category specialists, and key user areas to complete transactional activities that occur after signing a strategic sourcing contract, as well as small-value purchases requested by user areas. The Buyer partners with business unit end users to define requirements, developing sourcing solutions and executing sourcing process to drive Total Cost of Ownership value.

This position can be sited at any location within the FirstEnergy service territory which is OH, WV, PA, MD and NJ. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and processing a high volume of purchase orders and change orders in line with best practices/policies

  • Assuring that activities following the closing of a strategic sourcing contract (P2P - Procure to Pay) are completed effectively with a high level of detail

  • Utilizing Master Service Agreements (MSA) in collaboration with contract support, diversity, supplier risk, and Strategic Category Specialist

  • Coordinating with project managers to ensure delivery of product/service to end user

  • Utilizing strategic sourcing strategy to drive TCO Savings for operational spend

  • Leveraging technology, analytics, and tools to drive sourcing savings for operational purchases

  • Analyzing, evaluating and optimizing sourcing methods with Strategic Category Specialist

  • Developing strong relationships with suppliers through the supplier performance management and sourcing process

  • Implementing and managing multiple RFQ’s while ensuring proposal are presented efficiently and accurately

  • Collaborating with plant managers to determine material requirements based on company standards

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, business administration, engineering or related is preferred.

  • In lieu of a degree, 2+ years of experience in related work experience is required. Related work experience includes procurement, logistics and supply chain.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the operational process of purchasing and making low-value purchases

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Detail oriented (check documents, check errors, etc.)

  • Ability to understand and follow procurement procedures, adapting to new policies and changes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Users and supplier relationship skills

  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures

  • Ability to perform in accordance with FirstEnergy’s values and behaviors, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrity in all situations
