SHORT-TERM SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER SUBSTITUTE VACANCY

The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:

POSITION:Full time 1.0 FTE Short-Term Special Education Teacher Grades 7-12

(November 7, 2024 for approximately 6-12 weeks)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

NYS Students with Disabilities K-12 or

NYS Students with Disabilities 7-12 *Certification in a Content Area 7-12

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards, resources and classroom management.

• Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to create a positive student centered learning environment.

• Utilization of student assessments and data processes to identify programmatic needs, as well as target support for individual students.

• Collaborate with faculty and grade level team to design, modify, and implement effective lesson (unit) plans.

• Knowledge of the principles and methods for instruction at the Secondary level.

• Demonstrate ability to design and implement lessons to meet the learning needs of students with varying levels of ability.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• 1.0 FTE Grades 7-12 Special Education Teacher

• Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction using a variety of instructional models.

• Understanding of various disabilities, teaching strategies, and behavioral management techniques.

• Required progress monitoring and reporting per regulation requirements.

• Ongoing training and workshops to stay updated on best practices and legal requirements in special education.

SALARY:Compensation as per District/AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement
