U.S. Air Force Academy INSTRUCTOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (ASSISTANT WOMEN S GYMNASTICS) in Air Force Academy, Colorado

Responsibilities Position will perform faculty duties in the Department of Athletics, United States Air Force Academy. Will teach undergraduate courses in Physical Education, manage and instruct competitive athletic programs, perform assigned departmental duties, promote professional activities in area of athletic specialization; and participate in course and curriculum development. - Women's Gymnastics Instructs cadets in undergraduate Physical Education (PE) courses. Effectively instructs undergraduate Physical Education courses. Prepares course materials according to published course descriptions and delivers well-organized instruction to facilitate student learning. Counsels and evaluates assigned cadets as appropriate. Effectively provides student assessment and motivation. Provides extra instruction outside normal class and practice hours for cadets who require or request it. Serves as a course director when required by the Department of Physical Education. Manages all facets of the intercollegiate women's gymnastics program. Instructs cadets in the sport of women's gymnastics programs. Effectively assists in all organizational aspects of the intercollegiate women's gymnastics program, to include but not limited to: lesson planning, scheduling, budgeting, maintenance of supply and equipment accounts and safety of athletic facilities and physical training. Manages training programs in full compliance with the rules, regulations and bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Mountain West Conference (MWC) or other applicable conference affiliation and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Provides guidance to assistant coaches to ensure the professional conduct and performance of program's staff. Manage, administer and instruct summer sports camps as required by the Executive Director of Athletics. Performs a variety of administrative functions, as required, to ensure the timely and effective offering of physical education courses and athletic programs. Keeps abreast of current training and coaching methods to ensure the most innovative and effective methods are being used. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on departmental committees. Provides appropriate advice and counsel to improve the quality of educational/athletic programs. Maintains the professional and ethical standards of the USAF Academy. Proactively embraces the USAF Academy Core Values, Institutional Outcomes, Character Development Outcomes and USAF Academy regulations and operating instructions. Accepts responsibility as a role model and mentor to the cadets in their courses and programs. Maintains memberships in appropriate professional organizations, attends conventions, maintains liaison with others in the field to include military and civilian universities, and follows new developments to stay current with coaching and teaching techniques. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree and demonstrated experience and proficiency in the primary field of specialization - Women's Gymastics. ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES: N/A DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will be those that have demonstrated currency and excellence at the Collegiate Gymnastics level or equivalent professional or Olympic level. Candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Leadership experience in curriculum development and academic assessment is desired. Applicants will be assessed based on education, evidence of teaching effectiveness, quality of scholarship, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
