Are you ready to go beyond?What You Will DoPratt & Whitney’s Puerto Rico Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focus Structures Engineer to work on existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine engines. Engineer would provide analytical support for repair development and substantiation. Possible opportunities include Military and Commercial Airfoils, Rotors and Static Hardware. Structures Engineer will apply scientific principles to analyze, innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools. Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 10%Provide Structural support to military or commercial engine components through all Product Development Phases.Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization; stress testing and data reduction; production and in-service field investigations.Leads multi-discipline integrated product teams as the structures focal, providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weightLeads the development of new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophyDocument and present results to management and external customers.Actively lead and document quality initiatives for continuous improvement using Costumer Oriented Results and Excellence operating system (CORE) tools and support AS9100 efforts.Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to peers.English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak EnglishQualifications You Must HaveBachelor’s degree on Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Aerospace Engineering with 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced degree in Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience.5 years of experience with Microsoft Office applications.The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Qualifications We Prefer5 years of experience with software and programing languages. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition. Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools.
