Here’s the Scoop - Summary

The position of General Housekeeping has primary responsibility to provide assistance to the Production team in ensuring exceptional cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. The General Housekeeper works out of our Acheson Kitchen, and reports directly to the Sanitation Supervisor.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Ensure compliance to Company’s policies, practices and procedures related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment

  • Thoroughly and effectively cleaning floors in all office, production, packaging, and warehouse areas, using equipment such as brooms, mops, and auto-scrubbers

  • Sanitizing hand rails in production and packaging areas, including hand rails on platforms above packaging machinery

  • Using dusters and extended brooms to dust cobwebs in production and packaging areas, including on platforms above packaging machinery

  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Able to work with various tools and equipment, such as broom, mop, duster, and auto-scrubber.

  • Successful completion of WHMIS, with a thorough understanding of how to work safely with cleaning chemicals

  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

  • Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol and Fit-to-Work test up to 35 lbs

  • Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check and provide references

Working Conditions

  • Work environment is in a pet food distribution centre, with exposure to dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures

  • Overtime and Saturdays as required

  • Must be able to physically inspect company equipment, property, and assets

  • Regularly required to work at heights; fall arrest training to be provided by the Company
