SUMMARY:Directs clinical planning, application and follow-up of medical equipment and supplies for individuals. The position is responsible for completing patient records, home visits, and coordinating care with other providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge of all HME Equipment and HME supplies to include item | | numbers, unit of measure, pricing, use, expiration, | | operation/function, preventative maintenance, and safety | | features. Ability to educate patients, caregivers, and referral | | sources. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Knowledge and performance of detailed transactions in Brightree | | including but not limited to registering new customer, sales | | orders, transfers, cash sales, returns, notes, tasks, autopay, | | and WIPS. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Responsible to assist in equipment servicing, maintenance and | | cleaning according to manufacturer's specifications, safety, and | | infection control standards. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Conducts home visits to perform quality control checks on | | equipment, and review with the customer proper use and safety | | factors. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 6. Represents the company through marketing and inservicing of a | | defined product line to selected referral services. This requires | | continued updating of knowledge of products and services the | | location chooses to offer. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 7. Represents Avera HME to patients and referral sources using the | | Avera CARE standards. Communicates any problems to supervisor. | | 8. May be required to complete patient/caregiver follow up on | | equipment and supplies. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 9. Pulls appropriate equipment and supply inventory based on patient | | sales order. | | 10. Timely and appropriately communicates with the patient, | | caregiver, and/or referral. | | 11. Responsible for taking call as scheduled outside of office hours. | | 12. Inventory control activities are efficient and loss is minimized. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 13. Has general knowledge of all product lines promoted at the | | location, and serves as resource to other staff and referrals | | regarding indications for use. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 14. Is able to handle most billing and reimbursement inquiries and | | assists the site manager with special projects as assigned (i.e., | | quality management, inventory control, staff training, etc.). | +---- ------------------------------------------------------------------+

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT), Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
  • Licensure or Certification in the State of South Dakota is required.
  • Licensure or Certification in the State of Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota is required depending on service areas.
  • Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) if a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician is required or within 6 months of hire date.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • The employee will frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds. Any item weighing over 70 pounds to be lifted or moved via cart or team lifted/moved.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED COMMUNICATION/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING SKILLS:

  • Must possess the required level of skills and abilities to read, write, speak, and apply mathematical concepts and sound reasoning to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
  • Must be able to perform basic operations on a computer within the Windows operating system.
  • This position requires problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to multitask.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • May be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a health care environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; sharps or cuts; compression or impact; and outside weather conditions, especially during medical equipment setup.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
