Summary About the Position: This Computer Scientist position is located at Aberdeen est Center, Automotive Directorate, with a duty location of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This is a development position - Full Performance Level is at the GS-12 level. Responsibilities Serve as a technologist (a multi-disciplined position spanning many technological fields) or an analyst test support roles such as test technology (modeling, simulations, instrumentation, test control products and projects) methodology, and analysis. Provide authoritative advice and guidance to test team members on new techniques, concepts, plans, and programs relating to the use of test technologies, methodologies, or analysis. Provide authoritative advice and assistance for assigned products and technologies. Execute actions necessary to provide the correct methodology and test technology tools required to capture test data or create a realistic environment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Apply computer science methods and techniques such as reviewing, interpreting, and evaluating designs and modifications; AND 2) Develop plans and techniques to fit new situations to improve overall program and policies; AND 3) Render technical guidance and support to information system design, development, and integration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second grade/level position in the Federal Services (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Computer Scientist or Computer Engineering. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Technical Competence Technology Application Technology Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
