Job Description:

Parsons seeks a technical leader to facilitate expansion of quantum sensing work through supporting experimental R&D, identifying and engaging with potential customers and end users, and developing innovative sensing architectures with high potential impacts for national security. The chosen individual will develop solutions to challenging problems facing our nation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to develop quantum sensor technologies and establish new collaborations with academia, industry, and/or other not-for-profit organizations to advance the sensor’s technological maturity and/or explore novel use cases.

  • Perform research in quantum sensing, with a focus on sensors supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR).

  • Advise and educate our government sponsors on all aspects of quantum information science and its potential applications.

  • Develop technical assessments to help our government sponsors better understand, plan for, and otherwise engage with quantum technologies.

  • Explore other new or emerging technologies that may be of interest to Parsons and our sponsors.

  • Track, organize, and prioritize quantum computing applications by DoD utility, feasibility of realization, and completeness of the application concept across multiple institutions (government, industry, academia, etc.).

  • Develop processes to rigorously test quantum computing applications that utilize existing resources available to the government and independent of quantum computing companies, such as FFRDCs, UARCs, etc.

  • Recommend studies and project concepts to improve the DoD knowledge base of quantum computing application utility.

  • Maintain an information database, and benchmarks, with a public interface that documents DoD quantum applications and gaps in utility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eight years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or six years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with three years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.

  • The ability to manage and pursue new opportunities to meet sponsor requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers.

  • This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of a Secret DoD clearance. Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI-level clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of technical leadership and/or business development experience.

  • Experience in quantum sensing, solid-state physics/chemistry, optics, and/or near-field imaging/microscopy.

  • Computational experience for data analysis and/or experience with microelectronics are also desirable.

Salary Range:

$117,000.00 - $210,600.00
