The Economist Intelligence Unit – Healthcare (Clearstate), offers healthcare-focused market and business intelligence services complimented by strategic advisory to help medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare service firms understand their current and potential markets, and implement pragmatic and innovative strategies to ultimately tap into new growth opportunities. EIU Healthcare aims to further augment its dynamic team by seeking high calibre and talented business consultants keen to grow their career in healthcare business advisory.

The analyst, based in Shanghai, will be responsible for supporting our data solution delivery as well as providing the customised research and consulting services to our key account clients in the medical devices and life science sector. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support EIU content and account teams for data solution delivery

  • Provide ad-hoc EIU data solution customisation services to key accounts

    Provide ad-hoc advisory and consulting services leveraging EIU datasets

Accountabilities

In the role you would be expected to:

Support EIU content and account team on data solution delivery (50%):

  • Involved in customisation, delivery and presentation of EIU data solutions and reports to clients

  • Work with EIU account team to understand client needs on EIU data solution delivery, including datasets customisation, presentation & delivery, and other related analysis request

  • Work with EIU content team to customise EIU standard datasets as needed and conduct additional research and lead in-depth discussions with various external stakeholders as related to clients’ business objectives

  • Prepare presentation slides and other analysis to support the final delivery to client

  • Support BU leadership on EIU sharing on events and client workshops, and keeping meeting materials updated

  • Support BU leadership on internal initiatives and act as PMO for the initiative implementation

    Conduct analysis and develop business solutions (50%):

  • Engage with clients on a day-to-day basis to ensure progress and project milestones are communicated

  • Conduct in-depth market and data analyses to develop solutions and recommendations for clients, including project conceptualisation, research design, analysis framework development, business modelling and strategic framework development

  • Mentor and guide interns and junior analysts, ensuring that they meet their performance goals

  • Create final recommendations for clients based on analyses and insights gained

  • Support or lead presentations in a confident, clear and concise manner

  • Provide support to business development efforts when needed

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you would have:

  • At least 2-3+ years’ working experience in research and/or consulting

  • Bachelor or Master's degree from top tier universities; Science major and MBA a plus

  • Ability to interact with client-side management

  • Exceptional command of written/spoken Business English and Mandarin

  • High analytical and project management skills

  • Prior experience in healthcare sector

  • Willingness to travel
