GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe graphic designer performs highly complex (senior-level) graphic and multimedia design, production, and consultation work for the Communications Division of Texass Office of the Attorney General. The work involves coordinating the design, illustration, and production of graphics and interactive materials using Adobe Creative Cloud software and/or traditional graphic methods. Applying your graphic design skills at the OAG means putting your knowledge and creativity to work on graphics and displays used in real courtrooms for agency litigation, enhancing the work of numerous divisions across the agency with flyers or brochures, and educating the public on agency priorities through social media graphics and infographics. The graphic designer works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Knowledge of accessibility remediation in graphics software would potentially be an additional qualification. Coordinates print graphic and/or multimedia design needs with agency staff and provides technical graphics and/or multimedia advice. Research, plans, and implements new operating and production methods for interactive and print materials. Prepares operating and production procedures and reports. Reviews and approves production proofs. Maintains knowledge of industry standards of creative media design. Serves as a liaison with printers, vendors, contractors, and suppliers on media projects and procurement of materials and supplies. Help analyze content for accessibility, recommend changes to make content accessible, and remediate accessibility issues. Maintains design programs, design system components, and equipment. Troubleshoots system hardware and software problems. Makes presentations as needed to staff or the public on the development of agency interactive and print graphics materials. Performs related work as assigned Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in graphic design, communication design, fine arts, visual arts, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Three years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: communication design, fine arts, graphic design, visual arts. Knowledge of design principles Knowledge of graphic design software including, but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud Knowledge of digital and traditional graphic production methods, techniques, and equipment Knowledge of printing processes Knowledge of App e computers and iOS. Knowledge of Windows for PC and various Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines Skill in effective oral and written communication Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment Ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave) Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
